Petite Fashion Challenge #13: Stylish for Under $100

This month’s Petite Fashion Challenge, hosted by Really Petite, is: Stylish for under $100: Put together a professional outfit (excluding shoes and accessories) for under $100.  I had some trouble figuring out what to wear for this month’s challenge – I had originally planned to use a dress I bought back in November or December, but after last week’s Jason Wu for Target pop-up in Toronto, things changed.  Instead, I decided to pair the Belize Blue blouse with a skirt I got from while on vacation in Hong Kong (I didn’t remember the exact price of the skirt, but it’s going for $79.90 here).  Now, if we were to go with US pricing of the Target blouse, the outfit would be just slightly over $100, but the Toronto special was $20, making the skirt and blouse combo $99.90!

  • Jason Wu for Target Pleated Belize Blue Blouse, XS $20 (yes, I know.  It sold for less in Canada!)
  • Zara Skirt: $79.90
  • Belt: H&M, XS
  • Shoes: Christian Louboutin Proratas, Size 34
  • Bag: 442 McAdam

Of course, when paired with the shoes, belt and bag, the outfit would be well above $100. 🙂

This wasn’t my original PFC outfit.  I had planned to wear a blue Zara dress I bought back in November, which was about $80, but I thought that it would be too plain-looking since I don’t really wear accessories (sure, I could have added a brooch or pin to the dress).  This dress is no longer available in stores and some places (including online in the US) might still have the checkered version.  I think I might want to wear a different belt with this dress.  A tighter belt might make the dress look less boxy. What do you think?

  • Shoes: Cole Haan, size 5
  • Bag: Escada

By the way, I want to thank Annie from Really Petite for hosting this month’s Petite Fashion Challenge.  To see other petite bloggers and their outfits, be sure to visit Annie’s page!

  • Gorgeous job. What a fun challenge. ALways nice to be thrifty.

  • I actually prefer the 2nd outfit! So cute! Great job Cynthia and thx for participating 🙂

  • Navy looks great on you. Like Annie, I like the 2nd outfit.

    •  @reallypetite:disqus @google-13501535f55836b01fe6f921eaffc429:disqus Really?  Hmmm…Maybe it’s just that I have messier hair in the second picture.

  • I love that Zara skirt paired with the JW for Target top in the first photo.  Very colorful and chic!  I am really into wearing brighter colors to work this winter.

    •  Same here.  I was on a black clothing ban for the past few weeks!

  • Great colors!  The Belize blue looks so pretty against the navy blue (and purple?) colors of the skirt.

    • Yes, it’s blue and purple.  Glad you like the colour combos!

Lucky you on the $7 skirt.  Around here, really small sizes are the first to go.

  • The second outfit is my favorite.

I do like the colours of the 1st outfit but I think the dress in the 2nd outfit fits you really nicely!

Now this is professional! A lot of outfits I’ve seen with this challenge have been way above the knee – which I consider unprofessional in a corporate environment, especially without tights

I think both outfits could be better fitted in the top. The first looks too loose on you and the second slightly loose or ill-fitting on top…maybe because you seem to be of slight stature.

  • I’m a fan of the 1st outfit! I love the colors.

I like the second outfit and hate the posing on the first. It’s so tacky!! Please don’t do this anymore!
