Petite Fashion Challenge #14: Holiday Emergency

Petite Fashion Challenge #14 is: Holiday Emergency – Style your travel outfit into a special evening look using whatever you carry in your purse and anything else immediately at hand, hosted by Couture Coco.

If I check in luggage, I either pack a carry-on with two changes of clothing plus emergency underwear and cosmetics, just in case the luggage goes missing.  I will always, always have emergency carry-on clothes if I’m going to another continent – especially if I land later in the afternoon or in the evening.  Generally, I include something dressy (or dressy-ish) so that I’ll have something to wear.  So for this challenge, I’m going to post pictures for two scenarios.  The first is as above, using whatever I have in my carry-on:

  • Skirt: Aime, size XS (old)
  • T-shirt: Ann Taylor Loft, XXSP (old)
  • Shoes: Manolo Blahnik d’Orsays, size 5
  • Bag: 442 McAdam

Scenario Two: No carry-on luggage, meaning that I have to wear whatever I flew in.  If I’m flying shorter distances (five hours or less), especially within Canada and the US, I won’t change into yoga pants.  Most likely, I will fly in semi-dressy pants that would pass as appropriate clothing for a decent restaurant.  This means that all I really need to do is throw on a cardigan and some lipstick and am good to go.

  • Camisole: Smartset, XS
  • Cardigan: J.Crew Jackie cardigan, XXS
  • Pants: Theory, size 00
  • Shoes: Barclay, size 22.5 (size 4 1/2)
  • Bag: 442 McAdam

In both cases, the 442 McAdam bag would have been used as a wallet and carried inside a tote or laptop bag that I would have taken on the plane with me.

ANNOUNCEMENT: New Shorty Stories Giveaway coming soon! Look for it!

  • You are so brave to fly in nice trousers!  I am so wrinkle-prone that I couldn’t do it without looking like a crumpled mess when I arrive at my destination.

I adore those Manolos you’re wearing in the first photo.  So pretty!

    • Ehhh, those Theory pants are only for shorter flights (e.g. New York, Montreal or Chicago).  I’d never go to Hong Kong or London in those pants.  In those cases, it’s yoga all the way 🙂

      Glad you like the Manolos!

  • You fly in much nicer clothes than I do! Jeans and a jacket are as dressy as I get. =P

    • Thanks!  I fly in yoga pants too.  I don’t think I’ve flown in jeans in a while though.

  • very glam! i like this entry too! all the PFC outfits are so cute!

  • Both outfits are beautiful – I would never dare fly in dress pants but I sure admire your outfit. 🙂 Love your necklace, it’s such a subtle but gorgeous addition to both outfits. 🙂

    • Thanks!  I pretty much NEVER take off that necklace!

  • KTR

I love your travel outfit, it’s so classy! I used to travel in sweatsuits until one incident. I was lucky enough to get a free upgrade to first class but then was denied the seat because of my sweats and they were cute sweats!! lol…so ever since then, I’d always try to dress up a little more.

    • LOL!  I will casual it up…a lot (yoga pants + cardigan)…if I’m flying longer distances.  I usually change after checking in or even in the plane bathroom!

    Love your looks! So chic!

I really, really need to re-think my flying attire after seeing all these posts LOL! You’re more dressed up than I am on in an everyday basis hahaha! Thanks for sharing your travel tips!
